Jane Doe: Writing in Solidarity

A creative writing workshop for survivors of sexual violence

There are things we should not have to carry alone: anger, grief, fear, outrage, exhaustion. The things we wish we had said; the things we wish someone had said to us. A large portion of profits from this (and all workshops in this final quarter on 2026) will go to https://endingviolencecanada.org/donate/

Jane Doe: Writing in Solidarity is a creative writing workshop for survivors of sexual violence. It’s a space to write, breathe, rage, reflect, and simply be in the company of others who see you.

This is not a workshop about finding the silver lining. It’s not about forgiveness, closure, or turning your trauma into something beautiful— although it’s okay if you find any of these things.

Over Zoom, we will use poetry, personal writing, prompts, fragments, and other forms of creative expression to make room for whatever is here. Maybe that's righteous rage. Maybe it's grief. Maybe it's numbness. Maybe it's a memory you haven't known what to do with. All of it belongs.

You can write about what happened—or write about absolutely anything else. You can share your work, or keep it entirely to yourself. All of these options are weighted equally here <3

You can write something raw and unfinished, something funny, something furious, something tender, or something that makes no sense until six months from now. There is no right way to be a survivor in this room.

Please note: This workshop is rooted in solidarity rather than advice. We will not be giving or receiving feedback. Instead, we will practice listening without fixing, witnessing without interrogating, and making space without demanding disclosure. There is no expectation that you arrive with a particular story, a particular emotional state, or a particular definition of healing.

You are welcome to be angry here. You are welcome to be sad here. You are welcome to be quiet.

We meet on October 18th, October 25th, and November 1st at 2pm eastern time. Other info:

  • Jane Doe is facilitated by Yoda Olinyk. Yoda is an abortion doula, witch, artist, activist, amateur seamstress, and dog walker. She writes poetry, leads workshops, and edits books.

  • Sessions will be 2 hours minutes and are hosted on zoom

  • You do NOT have to be a published writer or be working on something specific to join. Just bring yourself, a notebook and pen... and an open heart.
