Frequently Asked Questions:
Is This A Workshop For Alcoholics?
While people who identify as alcoholics are certainly welcome at this workshop, Witching Hour is a space for anyone struggling with addiction, folks in active recovery, and for those who love someone in either of these categories.
How Does It Work/What Can I Expect?
In this workshop, I read poems that are related to recovery/addiction and then give “jumping off points” or ways to start your page. We then write together for 5-15 minutes, and then move into sharing, for anyone who wants to. In this workshop, we don’t give any feedback but instead focus on seeing each other fully and providing a safe container and lots of gratitude. You can expect to feel seen and heard, a boundary of safety and anonymity, and to find community in this workshop.
What Does “Recovery” Mean?
Recovery means different things to different people and all definitions are welcome in Witching Hour. We welcome people recovering from: alcohol, drugs, self harm, ED, trauma, abuse, shopping, sex, gambling, social media and more.
Do I Need To Be A “Writer” To Write With You?
Absolutely not! Writers are of course welcome, but so are people who have little or no writing experience. All you need is a pen, some paper, and an open heart.
Do I Have To Share?
Most people who come to Witching Hour do share their words, but you are under no obligation. We will set expectations and boundaries at the top of each workshop so everything is clear.
Can I Bring A Friend?
Of course! We ask that you send them to sign up link so that we can communicate all the necessary details with them directly.
How Much Does It Cost?
We offer this workshop on a sliding scale. BIPOC and trans folx are welcome to join for free!
